Hardingasete

Location: Norheimsund, Norway
Closest Airport: Bergen
Seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn
Hardingasete is an unique place- a kind of living open-air museum where old farms from the area have been taken down and built up again right at the waterfront. They are fitted with both antique furniture and the comforts of modern bathrooms and kitchens. Hardingasete lies tucked away on historic grounds on the Ljones peninsula by the Hardanger fjord. Facing the west, it lies overlooking the beautiful fjords and on the other fjord side is the majestic Folgefønna glacier. We have a total of 36 rooms, a big barn for meals and another one for a meeting, gathering or conference.

Ildsjel / Host

Jarle Hjartkaer

Jarle is a local doctor who wanted to preserve old run-down log houses. His dream and vision was to create a different type of hotel where people stay in those historic buildings. He took old houses down from the area and built them up again. It took 10 years before the place was able to earn money, but Jarle held onto his vision, and now Hardingasete is one of the most beautiful places in the fjords.
